Welcome to our ECW Jericho House Project Page...

A Need has been identified, our organization (ECW) has become engaged, we hope a dream is to be realized, and this is just the beginning...we invite you to join us and become a part of this National ECW Project.

In May 2007, as a national board member serving as the National ECW Board Representative to ERD (Episcopal Relief Development) I had the opportunity to visit New Orleans and became aware of a home building project, Jericho Road Episcopal Housing Initiative.

When our National ECW board met in New York in Oct 2007,  I submitted a report and a proposal asking that we engage all ECWS in building a house and to allow this project to be considered a National ECW Project under the auspices of the Social Justice Committee.

During our business meeting, a motion was made by our Social Justice Committee (Deborah Anderson, Social Justice, Chair; Marilyn Rishkofski; Nancy Sherwin; Sandra Powers; and Mary Ann Ransom) to ask approval to raise $110,000 to build a Jericho House in partnership with ERD and/ or Jericho Housing Episcopal Housing Initiative in New Orleans.

The motion also included that there would be no financial implications on the part of the National ECW Board. Motion was  voted on and approved. A gift of $500 was donated by a board member to help start off the first of many donations, I hope.

I am asking ECWS throughout the nine provinces to come together and support this project through financial and/or volunteer labor and when enough monies have been collected ($110,000) to help build a home for a family in the City of New Orleans. It will take many "hands and feet and prayers" to realize this dream and make it a reality.

Please watch for more publicity in the future and articles in  the Communique. A media package is being put together and will be put on this page in the near future. I ask for your prayers as this project moves forward.

You can start now by downloading a donation form or sending a check to ECW National Treasurer Elizabeth Campbell, 12191 Nemo Road, Nemo SD 57759. Please make your check  payable to Domestic & Foreign Missionary Society and  mark it "ECW Jericho House Project." Also, if you are willing to do "hands on" volunteering, please let me know.
